In 2019 I was working as an executive chef and living in a home with my Fiancé. The home was owned by her grandmother and it was in very poor condition the home was never sold because of its location two doors down from her great grandparents. It made it easy to provide them with the in home care they needed, but as time went on her great grandparents passed and we moved on. The home we lived in owned by her grandmother (who also lived there) had stood during multiple hurricanes and floods. Eventually it’s roof succumbed to a tree that fell during a windstorm. As I needed to provide a better and safer home for my family I knew We needed to relocate. The timing was fair as I was just let go from my position due to the restaurant’s failure during covid. Times were very hard for a town that relies on tourist money. We sold the home and moved towards a rural area of the state. But not to far from a few big cities. Our goal is to transform our 5 acres into a sustainable food forest. Which will supply part of the food chain for my catering company. Ultimately we need to produce food that comes with short supply lines and helps the environment. We have the land and a mobile home coming soon. All this expense has put me in deficit and if I have $10,000 to finish what I’ve begun I can lead a happier more secure life with my family. The money will be used for preparing the land for planting, and acquiring tools needed for maintenance. And a small amount will be used to achieve the early stages for the catering company.
