I’m currently struggling to keep my bills current. I went through a bad divorce. I was ordered to pay my bills and also those of my ex-wife. I was also trying to help support my daughter, who was out of work due to a heart condition. Because of these extra bills, I started using my credit cards to stay current. I had to get a couple of loans to keep up with all my monthly expenses. I hope to weather this storm until I can get my credit score high enough to use the equity in my home. I hate being in this position, but I did it to myself. I never dreamed of going through a messy divorce. I’m just trying to weather this storm. I will accept any help that I receive. I also promise that when I get back on my feet, I will also help others on this site. I didn’t want to file for bankruptcy and try to start over at my current age of 55. I was so desperate that I got scammed out of 3000 dollars and thought I was going to make money. Instead of thinking clearly, I end up losing money and getting stuck with a bogus check. I have a good job, and I’m also a disabled veteran. But right now, I struggle each month to make it. I’m not here trying to scam anyone. This is truly embarrassing, but I’m trying not to go under. When I was married, I didn’t think I was going to get a divorce, so I thought I would be able to pay off the things I purchased before I had to retire. But paying a lawyer’s and two other people’s bills has not helped my situation at all. Then I also adjusted my withholding and ended up owing the IRS $12,000 for back taxes. I understand that my situation is not unsolvable and that it is my responsibility. I just would like some help to be able to maintain my bills and improve my credit. I will be grateful for any help that I receive. I’m not expecting anyone to feel sorry for me. But I’m really trying to not have to go bankrupt or lose the home I’m currently in. Like I said, once I get my credit score raised, I will be able to use the equity in my home to pay off my ex-wife and hopefully pay off a couple of loans that I currently have. I know this is an easy or quick fix, but I will have to change a lot of my spending habits as a one-income homemaker. I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my story.
