Struggling 28yo Working Female

Hello All,

I’m here today to humbly ask for assistance with my debt. I make a decent living as chemist (60k net after bonuses and 2020 stimulus) for a fortune 500 company. I’m so proud of my accomplishments and am usually the first person to help others. My fiance 33yo (8 year relationship) has a 9yo son. We have had his son for school the last couple years. My fiance is unemployed and his ex is still racking up child support. On numerous occasions we have tried to have the back child support dismissed. The terms could not be decided in the divorce as the child lives in WV with us and the divorce was done in OH (all of our home state). The child support is stopping my fiance from getting a driver’s license and job. $1000 to a lawyer would pay for them to assist in filling out the documentation (we asked others/paralegals and the paperwork is just too legal to fill out, for most people). Then there is a $200 filing fee. His ex is agreeable with filing, but no one has the money. He is a good man. He is a veteran who’s wife cheated and spent his money on a different man when he was deployed (we are talking like 40k). His family is in a bad way, grandparents and parents having kids too young, and into poverty. His sister (30yo) and her daughter (11yo) had never taken a vacation without her mom(51). We went to myrtle Beach with them. I racked up more debt, but I justified it as the experience for these kids. It was modest. We didn’t see a lot of things, but I did want us to go to medieval times. Our 11yo niece is interested in horses. ♥️

Anyway, I have now racked up $8k in credit card debt and took a lien on my oldest vehicle to make repairs to the newest 🤦🏼‍♀️ ($4k that is now up to $6k). My parents are retired and my only sister is a teacher. Right now we have cut restaurants and have cut back on traveling to visit family (closest 3 hour drive). I plan to use tax money to get rid of debt. I usually do every year (pay off the cell phones to lower the bill etc). It just seems like something always happens. In the last 2 months I’ve had a strut mount failure in one vehicle and a flat tire in the other which turned into a mess because the rim is cracked and I need new wheels to get new tires… Eventually. My washing machine lid shattered, but it’s still useable as it’s a top load *Samsung without agitator*. It seems like as soon as I pay a credit card off, then the right side of my sink is leaking etc. I fear with my debt there is no where to go. No wiggle room. With school starting soon and then all the holidays, I don’t know how we will pay for any of it. My credit score has dove about 80 points due to debt to income ratio (because I still have student loans as well (30k)). I can’t possibly get a second job during this time as I’m working swing shift 10s and my company would not like me working and being exposed at another location. I’m only 28yo and any help will be paid forward in time. I am organized. I know when my bills are due, and I know by the time I am 50yo, I will be caught up and able to help struggling young adults like myself. Thank you to anyone who found my story compelling. Cheers to more chapters.
