I know this isn’t a serious matter and I feel silly asking for help on this but here it goes. Our daughter is 12 years old and has been playing on a Recreation Soccer team for the last 6 years but has outgrown it and would like to become more competitive, so she tried out for Travel Soccer and she actually made the team! The only problem is that our financial situation has taken a big hit these last couple of years.
We wouldn’t normally ask for assistance or have we ever had the need to ask before. I don’t want it to sound like a pity party or that we are owed this but this is the only way I know how to explain our situation. The team does have financial assistance but only for up to $500 if approved and unfortunately it’s still not enough for us to afford for her to play.
The Fee is $2,150 minus $300 for registration fee (which we will have to borrow) for the year but it does not include $200 for uniforms, so $2,050 is the total.
The reason I am asking for help is because my husband took a paycut as an EMT when we had to move into my father in-laws house and can’t even afford to pay for rent or groceries on our own and our credit score has also tanked so we can’t get a loan at this time. My husband is waiting for a permanent higher paying Fire position to open up this summer but is currently only a paid volunteer. He has always had jobs that paid good enough for me to stop working due to illness and physically unable to work. To make things worse my husband and I have both been in and out of the hospital several times these past 2 years and unfortunately his work doesn’t have paid sick time-off. I’m not sure how detailed I need to get on our illnesses. He has heart issues, I was bed ridden for about a year due to Covid, POTs syndrome and Gastroparesis and have to do physical therapy twice a week just to get my strength and muscle back since I lost A LOT of muscle, so I am physically unable to work at this time but my end goal is to start working again. I do get some VA disability but still trying to get an increase since a lot of my health issues are service connected but not listed.
We would hate to tell her no because of money since she has given up so much these past couple of years. She has been doing so well since we had to move and she’s made the Honor Roll all year and she also doesn’t ask for much because she knows we don’t have as much money as we used to. She is super excited to play at the next level and we hope we can give her that. We are both veterans and appreciate any level of help that is out there. The Fee is $2,150 minus $300 for registration fee (which we had to borrow) for the year but it does not include $200 for uniforms, so $2,050 is the total. Thank you for your time and consideration.
