Hi, my name is Kathy. I have gone through the most traumatic experience of my life. I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Triple Negative Breast Cancer. I had a Lumpectomy (removal of cancerous lump from the breast). The surgeon was supposed to remove only three Lymph Nodes to check to see if the cancer had spread. She instead removed nine because the nodes were struck together because of the excess fluid. They were all clear of cancer which was great news but removing nine Lymph Nodes caused fluid problems on the right side of my body (strangely my right arm is unaffected). This problem is permanent unless I get a transplant of Lymph Nodes from other parts of my body and put back under my armpit. I assume any surgeon doing this type of surgery would want me to wait until I reach the five year mark.
I also had five months of chemotherapy. I had the standard treatment for triple negative or quadruple negative breast cancer which is Adriamycin & Cytoxan every 2 weeks for 8 weeks then 12 weeks of Taxol. I lost my hair, eyebrows and eyelashes. My fingernails and toe nails turned brown. The nausea was not that bad. I threw up after the fourth dose of Adriamycin & Cytoxan. My Oncologist was really good at prescribing anti-nausea medication. The worse part of the chemotherapy for me was the peripheral neuropathy (nerve pain). My fingers and hands hurt so bad I couldn’t believe it. Then I had 35 treatments of radiation.
I am financially, physically, mentally and emotionally drained and exhausted. I continued to work though out these treatments which I regret especially with the chemotherapy. I am barely hanging onto my job. I need to switch jobs. I need a slower paced job. My sister who lives in another state has offered to let me move in with her and find another job. She is unable to help me financially to make this move. Please help me. I beg you.
