My spouse and I met 5 years ago after we both lost our spouses to addiction. We were broken people who found one another in tragedy and fell in love as we healed one another. He had two children a son and a daughter and I had a son. He moved across the country so we could be together and we began a beautiful life together as a family. A year later I was pregnant with twins, two beautiful little boys to add to and complete our family. We started a business together which was for the first 2 years greatly successful. He quit his day job so that we could work the family business together. Then January 2017 tragedy struck our lives again as our daughter our oldest attempted suicide. Post her attempt we put her in the best mental health facility we could find followed by a year of outpatient treatment, and medical bills that racked up to over $70,000. We decided to move closer to family for the support system our family needed and in that process our business greatly suffered. Our house sat unsold for a year while we continued to pay that payment plus rent in the new house. The sum of debt kept growing bigger while our business floundered. My spouse returned to work but we are so far in a hole at this point climbing out seems impossible, we’ve entered debt consolidation, we now owe back taxes from the business, and are still deep in medical debt. We just need help. I know there are people that likely need it worse or are more worthy then we are. However, we refuse to believe that life is nothing short of just tragedy after tragedy, we keep our heads up, we work hard…. we just need a little help and maybe just maybe those who read this can find it in their hearts to do so.
