Dear Friends,
We’re reaching out to our community in a time of need, hoping for your support and generosity. Three years ago, my husband underwent esophageal cancer surgery, a battle that changed our lives forever. Since then, he hasn’t been able to work, and our family has faced numerous challenges. Despite the hardships, we’ve remained resilient, relying on each other and the kindness of those around us.
However, our journey took an unexpected turn recently. On my way to volunteer with our local gleaner group, a commitment I hold dear to my heart every Saturday, tragedy struck. Despite the roads seeming safe after the last ice storm, I encountered black ice and ended up totaling our only means of transportation – our truck. The loss has left us stranded and struggling to maintain our daily routines, including essential medical appointments for my husband’s ongoing treatment.
We’ve managed to scrape together $1000 towards the purchase of another truck, a sum accumulated through careful saving and sacrifice. However, it’s not enough to secure a reliable vehicle that can withstand the challenges ahead. The fear of sinking further into financial strain looms over us, especially considering the possibility of immediate repair costs after purchasing a used vehicle.
That’s why we’re turning to you, our community, for help. Your generosity can make a world of difference in our lives. By contributing to our campaign, you’re not just helping us buy a truck; you’re restoring our independence, dignity, and hope for a brighter future. Your support will enable us to continue serving our community through volunteering and ensure my husband receives the care he urgently needs.
Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to our goal. Whether you can spare a few dollars or share our story with others, your support is invaluable. Together, we can turn this setback into an opportunity for renewal and strength.
Thank you for considering our plea and for being the beacon of hope in our darkest hour. Your kindness will forever be remembered and cherished.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Patti McFadden
