I’m asking for assistance to build a 1 bedroom cabin in Northern Wisconsin.
I’m retired, in my mid 60’s, have some advancing medical conditions, and currently living and traveling in a 30+ year old motor home.
All has been good and I have seen some wonderful sights, but my advancing medical condition has been telling me that I can’t continue traveling for many more years. Because of that, I see the need to seek a more static place to live.
I inherited 2.5 acres of wooded land in Northern Wisconsin from my parents and figured that would make a nice place to put a cabin.
When I looked over my financial reserves, I found I didn’t have near enough to cover the costs of land preparation nor enough to cover the costs of interior work, though I do have the funds to purchase the pre-built structure.
I’m not asking for total financing. and being in my mid 60’s, getting a loan is not financially wise.
What I am asking, is for enough people to donate enough to cover the remaining cost of a small energy efficient cabin.
The house I am considering is a 16×40 lofted barn cabin from http://www.premierbuildings.us placed on a full foundation, and adding a 16×24 garage to keep my small economy car out of the winter weather.
I, with the help of relatives and some professional services, would finish out the interior as an energy efficient one bedroom cabin.
By my estimation, I would need an additional $35K to $45K (depending on taxes) to cover the costs of clearing the land, installing a foundation, digging a well, installing a septic system, have an HVAC system installed, properly insulate the place with closed cell foam insulation. and contract for utility hookup.
All money raised will be transferred to a separate account and bank to insure the funds do not mix with my regular finances.
