I am a 32 year old A1C in the USAF with a wife and a two year old daughter. I joined late in life but it’s never too late to start pursuing your dreams/goals and serving my country. I went to boot camp on January 9, 2018 but shortly after, the government shutdown which forced my wife to rely on a couple of low limit credit cards to pay bills. The bills included rent (would have been covered by my BAH had I been receiving it on time), medical bills that couldn’t be covered by TRICARE, daycare, phones (we have Cricket which is cheapest we could get), car payment and insurance. This didn’t include having to pay for basic living expenses. By the time the shutdown was over and I started getting my pay, we were already behind. Since my first check included backpay, we were able to get rent and a few other things squared away before moving to our first assignment location. Fast forward a year and we have managed to slowly get rid of most of the debt. My tax refund will cover a portion of what’s left but we will still have about $2500 left between three credit cards. My wife has been actively seeking employment since we arrived to Nellis AFB, Nevada in June 2018. After a few months of everything falling through, she started focusing on her art to help. Recently we found out a spot was available for our daughter at the on base daycare. This will be significantly cheaper and will help my wife with job availability. It’s a big step into getting a second income to knock out the rest of our debt. However, with the remaining debt after income taxes, it will be even tighter until she does get employment. I’m requesting help with this debt so we can spend the next year saving and building our credit scores back up rather than another year of paycheck to paycheck. I understand any hesitation to donate towards this request as we could technically do this by ourselves over the next year or two, and as it isn’t as dire as some peoples requests. Be that as it may, my wife and I could be back to a situation of financial freedom with your help. We are both compassionate people that otherwise try to be charitable with our time and money. This would help us achieve that once more. Thank you for your time and consideration.
