Since I was a little girl, I have always had huge dreams which seemed bigger and impossible that I could even refrain from sharing because no one would start imagining that it can be possible. My first dream came true when I did well in my primary school examination and went to a very good girls’ secondary school. I loved science subjects because I wanted to be in the medical profession. The experiments we performed in the laboratories fascinated me, my curiosity was aroused such that I decided to build a career as a biomedical scientist.
Like any other African woman, I went ahead to get married and had 3 beautiful children. In an instant, my Identity was quickly erased, my professional life was limited and I remained only to be known as a wife and a mum. I came to a realization that all my dreams of getting further studies and acquiring skills to be a career woman will quickly come to a terrible end if I don’t do something about it.
Kenya is currently moving towards embracing digital health, I decided to choose health informatics because it will give a boost to my career and place me in a strategic position to get a promotion or even get a better job when I go back home. I chose the UK because the MSc program takes only one year so I will not be away from my family for too long. The education I will gain is globally recognised and I will have a chance to use multimillion facilities. This was something worth sacrificing my time and finances for.
I gained the courage to discuss this with my family, some thought I was joking because they knew our financial situation. I have always known that where there is a will there will always be a way. We pooled the little resources available, and went ahead, and submitted my application. I am now an MSc Health Informatics student from Kenya studying at Swansea University in the United Kingdom.
I am currently facing withdrawal from my studies if I don’t clear my fees balance of 3955.50 pounds by 17th July 2023 as per the attached screenshot.
The inflation, exchange rates, and the high cost of living have seriously reduced the amount of money I had when I came to the UK.
I am kindly appealing to all of you, please help me clear this fee so that my dream of completing this MSc may come true.
Your generous contribution towards this worthy course is highly appreciated.
Thank you so much.
