I appreciate you taking the time to read my request. I am a 52-year-old married female who lives in Minnesota. I have worked full-time the majority of my life since I was in High School. My husband has also worked since he was in high school. We make an average living. We do not go on lavish vacations, go out to the bars or gamble. We do not drive fancy cars and we do not live in an over the top house. We have been paying on our student loans for what feels like an eternity. We currently owe. $27,547.74. I am happy to say that my husband and I are good people today. That has not always been the case. In our teenage years, we were wild children who enjoyed mood-altering chemicals. We have been clean for over 25 years and today we mentor people who have gone down a bad path and want to live a better life. We share our experience strength and hope with others in hope that our stories will touch them and give them hope that they too can live a better life. My husband comes from a family with 8 children and he is the one that has taken on the task of caring for his father and stepmother living out of state. Even after his father passed away he still flies every other month to care for his aging step-mother. We go to work every day and have two children 17-year-old son and a 13-year-old daughter. Our son has high-end autism and has been in mainstream school his whole life. Raising a child with special needs is difficult but we have done our best to guide him to be a productive member of society. He will graduate this May and will go on to the military or school. Our 13-year-old is a dancer who is kind and loving. Our student loan debt weighs on us. In 2016 I lost my job and I had difficulty finding a new one (ageism is a thing). I am happy to say that I am now employed full-time. Having our student loan debt taken care of would allow us to live with less stress and to be better parents. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
