In November 2018 we happily welcomed our son into our lives, he was a surprise but we had spent the months leading up to his arrival trying to organize bills and acquire used baby gear from friends and family to lessen the expense of having a new baby. We were lucky enough to have everything we needed— even a crib and changing table given to us secondhand. Before baby came me and my fiancé were both working; him full time and me part-time job and school full time. Now that baby has come and is almost 6 months old we’ve come to the conclusion that I will not be going back to work because childcare is out of our budget right now and my fiancé has taken a second full time job. I was planning to go back to school in September to finish my last year of my degree, but I have almost $5k of bills just for school I have to pay before I can re-enroll. On top of this I will be commuting to and from school to save money and be with my little family, but taking the train adds an hour to the commute and is really expensive and my car (which I finally paid off before baby came) is going to breakdown any day. My fiancé doesn’t have a license so between us we only have the one car. We didn’t plan for the expense of a new car or lease on top of expensive healthcare costs, a raise in our apartment’s rent and my college tuition bills. If it were just the two of us I would just buy any car that runs, but being that we’re starting our family now I need to make sure the car is safe for our son and will be a good investment for the long term as he will be commuting with me to school when I go back to finish, hopefully in January 2020 if I can pay these bills off. Anything would be appreciated, our main focus is me finishing school so I can begin a career to help support my family, but right now we’re putting everything we have into the health and wellbeing of our son. If we can pay my school bills and replace our car so I can reliably get my fiancé to work and get myself to class we would be on our way to a successful life as a family! Thanks in advance.
