Start of my life, during a pandemic.

Hello to whomever is reading this.

As you know, we are currently in a pandemic. Times have been tough for everyone, no doubt. I’m not just expecting money or anything, I’m also just looking for some place to vent as well. I’m 19 years old, I feel like I should be “living my best life” but its quite the opposite right now. I graduated high school this past July. Due to COVID-19 my graduation got pushed back a month. My plans to go to college didn’t fall through, so I had to withdrawal. I was lucky I had a scholarship because I had to pay for the semester I withdrew from. My scholarship was $1000, so they used that to cover majority of the costs, so I now owe my college $187. I got my first job in August, which didn’t work out to well, no one would wear their masks in the workplace, and I live with my elderly mother. So I did not want to risk getting myself & her sick, so I quit after a month of working there. I was just so scared of one day getting sick. I was getting paid 13.50 while I was working there. I was using my paychecks to buy groceries for my household and I saved up to get my permit, so I can start learning how to drive. I was very depressed when I left my job, especially since I didn’t have a new one lined up. So I applied for unemployment and they accepted me. I was getting $150 every week, which was going to groceries and I saved up a bit to pay my college back. I live with my older brother and elderly mother, we do the best we can to watch over her and make sure shes okay. But my brother works, has his own car, and is working towards building a life for himself, since he’s getting older now. I feel like I’m stuck. Our land lord wants to raise our rent by $50, we now pay $1350, so we will start paying $1400 for a 3 bedroom apartment. So now our rent is kinda going out of our budget. My mom and brother pay for rent, electric, and wifi. I mostly do groceries, house supplies, two phone bills, and now the extra $50 for rent. Unemployment was raised to almost $500 a week and I still feel like I’m drowning, it seems only enough to pay my current responsibilities but not enough to save up for my five hour course, a car and driving lessons. If anyone could spare a few dollars it would be greatly appreciated. If not, I just appreciate you taking the time to read this. This past year has been lonely and it feels so good to just let this out somewhere.

I don’t exactly have much proof of anything, besides the paper my college sent me confirming the amount I owe with them. Along with the costs of driving classes and my five hour course. Our lease with the landlord has been up for a couple months now, so I guess that’s why he feels the need to up the rent, but it frustrates me because we are in the middle of a pandemic and he wants an extra $50 dollars. Like come on… IMG_3927.PNGIMG_E3929.JPG
