First of all, I would like to thank you for clicking on my link, it means a lot that you’re considering to help me.
My name is Kira, I am a 21-year-old University student from the UK. I’m studying English and my dream is to become a teacher. In my opinion, it is the most rewarding, humbling career out there and I can’t imagine myself doing anything else.
I am the first member of my family to undertake a university education. My family is by no means well-off, and things have always had to be juggled here and there in order to pay for everything.
I’m going to be honest – I’m not the best at budgeting or finances. I certainly try my best at keeping a check on my spending, but as I am entering my third year of uni, expenses have increased to the point where I’ve had to take out an overdraft. My rent this term has now increased since the estate agent that manages my property has now gone bankrupt. I have exams to sit and pay for this coming summer (I am undertaking an extra A Level as I believe it will increase my chances of getting into the PGCE course I want to), and my overall spending this year has increased. I have tried my best to keep on top of things, my family provide me with what assistance they can – currently, my father sends me £100 a month. This is as much as he can spare as my parents also have my younger brother to provide for, as well as themselves, of course.
I’m extremely apprehensive about the future. I don’t know how or when I’m going to be able to pay off my overdraft debt or undertake the debt of my Masters/PGCE course. I do not want to have to give up on my dreams of becoming a teacher, and I don’t want to leave my family disappointed in me. I have come so far to quit now.
I’ve worked some jobs, all temporary staffing at various retail stores, however, these are not the most generously paid, and the hours, unfortunately, do not work around my study schedule.
I’m asking for donations – however much you can spare will be greatly appreciated – in order to get back on my feet, and relieve the pressure of my financial burdens that my parents (and myself) are currently facing. If you choose to donate I will be forever grateful for your kindness and generosity. If not, I thank you for taking the time to read this.
