I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. My name is Angela Jones, and I am a determined and passionate student at Central Christian College of Kansas, nearing the completion of my Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration. I am writing to you today to humbly request your assistance as I navigate a pressing financial challenge that stands between me and my lifelong dream of acquiring a college degree.
There has been a lot of difficulty and adversity on my journey so far. As a child, I was placed in foster care due to my mother’s boyfriend being jealous of my newborn brother and burning him with an iron. My biological parents struggled with drug addiction, and my father wasn’t in my life. This environment led to traumatic experiences, including being molested. In these circumstances, I assumed the responsibility of caring for my younger siblings, striving to shield them from the harsh realities we were facing.
In my quest for stability, I became a mother at a young age, which led to the additional challenge of raising my children single-handedly as a result of their father’s infidelity. To meet my children’s needs, I obtained my GED and entered the workforce prematurely, sacrificing my college education for the immediate necessity of providing for my family.
In my pursuit of a better life, I married a man in 2019 who turned out to be abusive and unsupportive of my dreams of returning to college. Despite the abuse, I persisted in my academic endeavors, determined not to let anything stand in the way of my education. After severing ties with him in 2020, I focused all my energy on rebuilding my life and creating a positive environment for my children.
Fast forward to today, and I am proud to say I am on the cusp of achieving a significant milestone: completing my degree. However, a $4,200 remaining tuition balance from the January to August semester has impeded my progress toward achieving this goal. I am unable to enroll in my final course because of this debt, which if not paid off by August 21, 2023, will prevent me from graduating on October 1. Moreover, the tuition for my final class is $1,400, bringing my total required sum to $5,600, which I can’t complete until my balance of $4,200 is paid to proceed into the new term after completing my last class.
My journey, while riddled with difficulties, has only served to strengthen my resolve and determination to make a better life for my children and me. I am not just to break the cycle of adversity that marked my early life but also to become a beacon of hope for those who find themselves in situations similar to mine. I firmly believe that obtaining this degree will help me accomplish these goals, and more importantly, it will allow me to set a precedent for my children and others that overcoming obstacles is not only possible but also makes us stronger and more resilient.
I would be immensely grateful if you could consider my situation and assist in any way possible. Any assistance you can provide towards my tuition would be a significant step towards my graduation and the realization of a dream that has long been deferred.
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and consider my request. I am more than willing to discuss my situation further or provide any necessary documentation to substantiate my circumstances.
