Good day everyone,
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I know it’s quite lengthy, but It’s important I share a comprehensive picture of my journey so far. I am a 42-year-old single mother of two wonderful children who mean the world to me. Currently residing in Texas, USA, I work in the healthcare field, dedicating myself to caring for the sick and elderly in various healthcare establishments. Over the past eight years, I have gained extensive experience in providing comprehensive care. As an agency healthcare worker, I fulfill shifts as a caregiver, certified nursing assistant (CNA), and occasionally as a medication technician. I have truly thrived in this profession that I am deeply passionate about, and now I am ready to take the next step and fulfill my lifelong goal of becoming a nurse.
I was accepted into a private college in Texas to pursue my nursing education, fully aware that it would require sacrifices, financial prudence, and personal obligations. I understood that achieving my goal would involve minimizing costs, establishing priorities, and maintaining unwavering determination and focus. Unfortunately, I did not qualify for any loans or grants, so I have been covering my college expenses entirely out of pocket.
To make ends meet, I made the difficult decision to temporarily relocate my children to Alabama, where a dear friend generously offered to care for them throughout the one-year duration of my course. We embarked on a lengthy 13-hour drive, settling them into their new home for the duration of my studies. Every month, I send a reasonable amount to my friend to cover groceries and hygiene items, which alleviates a significant financial burden compared to if they were living with me. I am immensely grateful to my dear friend for providing a home for my children during this time. Having my kids stay with her allows me to focus more on my studies, and work extra hours without distractions or added stress. Consequently, I chose not to renew my lease on a two-bedroom apartment when it expired. The cost became unaffordable since all my earnings were dedicated to school fees and other bills. Instead, I moved in with a former colleague and rented a room in her house, saving a substantial amount of money. This decision enabled me to accumulate savings towards my monthly tuition installments, significantly reducing my overall expenses. By cutting down on accommodation costs, my bills decreased, including car payments, phone bills, car insurance, rent, and gas expenses (commuting approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes to school and nearly 2 hours back due to traffic). Fortunately, I am nearing the end of this challenging period, having managed to raise approximately $17,546.37 out of the required $21,010.00 by working tirelessly, including extra hours. I am now left with approximately $3,463.63 to pay.
As my nursing program draws to a close in September, I am finding it increasingly difficult to secure shifts as I used to through agency work. Unfortunately, agency shifts have become infrequent, and due to the flexibility they provide, they are the only shifts I can manage alongside my school schedule. Taking on full-time employment is not feasible, as it would negatively impact my performance at school. Working nights is also not ideal, as it would leave me fatigued and unable to concentrate effectively during the day. Moreover, the availability of agency shifts has dwindled compared to the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, and there are days where I struggle to find enough shifts to cover my basic expenses, let alone my school fees. The current situation is challenging, and I am humbly reaching out to kind-hearted individuals for assistance in raising the remaining tuition amount of $3,463.63 for the last three months of my studies. Any additional support would be immensely appreciated.
With only 86 days left until my graduation as a Nurse, I am seeking any assistance available to help me focus on my upcoming exams, excel in my exit exams, and prepare for the licensure exams. I feel embarrassed coming up with my problems as everyone might have more serious problems than mine, Nevertheless, I am immensely grateful for any support that can help me achieve my goal of completing my studies and reuniting my family in Texas, propelling us to the next chapter of our lives. God bless you all. My PayPal account is paypal.me/nurse2bmo
