My name is Nadine and I’m 26. Ever since I was young, I’ve had a fascination with the weather and wanted to study it further. My dream was to be a storm chaser and I used to watch the TV show every day after school!
But after a lot of bullying in school, that caused me to completely lose my confidence and drop out it meant that I did not pass any of my exams, and I have no formal qualifications. I did not go to college or university when everyone else graduating from my school did. After moving to the city and financially struggling for a while when I had no family support I ended up doing admin work, which paid the bills, barely. I now work for the emergency services and have been doing so throughout the Covid pandemic, when I have realised that life is short and I am not satisfied with what I do and need to be in a better place financially also. I am now trying to earn qualifications in a field that will help me support my family better.
I’ve wanted to further my education for a while but I also have a 4 year old child who was born when I was 21. My partner stays home full time to look after him, and I am the main money earner in the family, so unfortunately we don’t have the money for me to study and any money we make goes back into paying for our child and our home.
I’m hoping to raise enough to be able to take an online course and get a degree in Meteorology. I have already undertaken several free online courses for this and it is a field that I find incredibly interesting, however, I need a certified version in order to apply for related jobs. I will also hopefully be able to live my dream one day of seeing a real tornado!
Therefore, any donation at all would be greatly appreciated, even (0.01!) and my family would be very grateful. I’m not close with my own family for their financial support and I dont have a wide social circle to ask for donations. However, I strongly believe in paying it forward and if I receive any donations I’ll be sure to put them back in to others who need them when I am able to.
Thank you for reading!
