I started college in 2017 after I graduated high school. I graduated with honors. I was a member of the track and tennis teams and was also a member of the band. I lived with my mother. My dad was never in the picture, and this past September of 2018 my mother passed away. We had no other family in this state and out of state tuition is even more than it is here. I am at a community college currently but this coming August I will attend a university where cost of attendance and living is much higher. I am only 19 years old and I don’t have any family support. I do not have the basic things a college student needs like health, vision, and dental insurance. I am also saving up for a car. I work so much that I have to miss out on so many great college opportunities. I am working two jobs in my community college town. I love to work and will continue to do it throughout college, but college only happens once and there are so many organizations and leadership opportunities I would like to be a part of but can’t due to not being able to spare even a day of work. My apartment for next year with be roughly $600 a month not including food and other necessities. I hope to be mostly paid tuition wise with scholarships, however these do not cover my housing so I would greatly appreciate any help I can get. A university will be much harder than community college and I want to avoid excessive stress. I want to keep my GPA up (which is currently a 3.5) and I want to make my mom proud. I appreciate any one who took the time to read this.
