Hello, I know not anyone’s name, but the services.
I am a student, a native from an island off the coast of Taiwan who’ve come to the USA about 5 years ago. I am the first to be able to speak, listen, read, and write this fluently in English from my tribe. One who actually knows the world map, and how much more the world is. I no longer hold the primitive idea that Taiwan is the only other land on earth, nor the idea that America is just a very very far away land.
In pursuit of education, I’m doing quite literally everything on my own since my family is either unable or unwilling to support me. I’ve worked extremely hard to earn scholarships to attend my dream college, and my family isn’t able or willing to put in even one cent. I understand, in some aspect, I am a first gen college student after all. And with one parent dead, and the other half across the earth from where I am currently living, pursuing my American dream is quite difficult when I’m all on my own. But the issue is that not only it’s a college, it’s also a private college; which means it is costly. I grew up thinking 100 NT was riches, but that is only 3 USD, now imagine telling my family my college is approximately 58,000 USD each year, and though I’ve raised 100,000 USD in scholarships alone, that is still not enough.
Now, if someone could pay for my college tuition that would be absolutely marvelous, but I am not the kind of person who requests other’s money without doing anything in return, to begin with. As to why I actively file for scholarship that requires essays and other talent-based requirements. Yet, here I am, desperate. (though I’d love to do something back, but I’m afraid I can only do that with artwork or your request and my gratitude.)
Simply put, I could really use some relief. Going around doing art commissions, music gigs, work study, and tutoring is torturing me. Not to forget that I also have school work to complete.
Not everyone can afford to help me on college tuition nor wish to direct their donations on that, perhaps you can help me with this. I’m going for a music performance degree as a major, and my cello really needs the strings replaced. They are seven years old–supposed to be replaced every two years or so–and it’s required at this point for me to replace them.
There are different brands, however, so whatever I may receive from this is whatever I’ll go with in terms of how good the string/brand is. Then, of course, I wouldn’t rely on this, since it isn’t guaranteed–and I am perfectly aware of that–I’ll continue to try to save up on my own, the same applies to my college tuition.
Anyway, thank you for reading my request, for as little as that, I am thankful. I wish you a good life, and nothing bad ever goes your way.
