Thanks for tuning in, it’s your local (or not so local) college student here! The past few weeks have consisted of the world crumbling to pieces and contracting the one and only, Covid-19. The past few weeks have also consisted of my hours being cut in HALF because I work in a local sandwich shop and no on wants to leave their safe haven and chance disease for a sandwich. The brave souls who do dare to go out however do tip generously, but not enough to fix the dark, empty hole, that is my bank account. Here’s my cry for help: my car went and broke down, I had to get several things fixed before I could drive it, this situation cost me $1,100. I am also behind on my school payments (I pay monthly). I am behind on my school payments because of my car needing to be fixed, and also a lack of hours at my job. My hours went from 40 a week, to about 18-20. I am incredibly grateful to still be able to go to work in these trying times as I am well aware that many cannot, however the circumstances are not entirely in my favor. Although we are all social distancing and are doing school work online, I will eventually have to face my director who will be looking for all of my wonderful missed payments. My ultimate goal is to graduate school without being more in debt than I am already going to be, if I somehow become able to pay for my next months, my ultimate goal will succeed. My family is in no shape to help me, and now they are in even less shape to help me because most of them lost their jobs due to Coronavirus. Seeing as, I’m a student and my family claimed me on their taxes, the government doesn’t see me as one who is in need of a stimulus check! Even though my family claimed me on their taxes, there’s nothing I do not buy for myself (my car, my phone, groceries, I even pay for the WiFi, and a portion of the rent. Etc,,,). All that being said, desperate times call for desperate measures. Feel free to help my empty pockets, this 18-year old girl is the most broke she’s ever been, is considering selling her soul, and is in need of $1700.
The attached photo is me and my car that just cost me ALL of my money!
