I’m Ally, I’m 27 come August and have been living with multiple sclerosis since my diagnosis 3 years ago in May, at the age of 22.
I had just entered into a post secondary school after having dropped out of high school at age 14/15 due to troubles at home, bullying, and a very bad decision on my part.
3 months into my program is when I had my first noticeable MS attack. This attack lead to a CT scan being ordered, an MRI, a neuro consult, an EMG test of the function my nerves, another MRI and a then a diagnosis of “aggressive multiple sclerosis”.
Because of my school’s policy, I was not able to take a medical leave. I had to keep pushing through, despite the symptoms and the heavy diagnosis that came out of left field.
Since then, I’m happy to say I passed my course with a 90+ GPA and found a job in my career choice, prior to doing my internship.
Since graduating, I’ve continued working at that same job. Because of a really bad relapse, I had to inform my boss of my health. While she was understanding at the time, I feel that has worn off.
I’m constantly being given extra work over the other employee and being asked to work more shifts and longer hours than the other employee as well. As well as this happening, the past month I’ve found my boss has become short, dismissive and extremely rude with me out of nowhere.
At the start of COVID, I had to reduce my hours and because of that, I’m struggling financially. I’ve also started having panic attacks due to work and many symptom flare ups due to stress.
While I enjoy my work, the office I work in has become a toxic place for me to the point where I’m worried about my health, as MS relapses are more common when stress levels increase. In my lifetime thus far, I have never had a panic attack, now I get them a few times a week, and always when it involves work- whether it be at work, thinking about work, or on my way to work.
I’ve always been responsible with money, as my family didn’t come from much. However, I found you can only stretch things so far.
I’m asking anyone who has anything to give, if you feel you are able to help, please know I would appreciate it beyond imagination.
What I’m requesting help with is that I’m hoping to pay off what is remaining out of my $10,000+ student debt. Over time I’ve paid off almost half already, getting it down to $5,200. Along with this, my one in-use credit card which has a remaining balance of $2,600. I’ve been balance transferring this one credit card for 3 years now, slowly paying it off, but its taking time due to my lack of hours in my workplace.
If I’m able to do this with the help of anyone who has it to give, I can leave my workplace asap without having to worry about paying my bills, while I look for another job.
I cannot include a picture of my credit card statement as the app won’t allow screenshots, but i will try attaching a screenshot of my student loan amount remaining.
Thank you doesn’t even begin to cover how much I appreciate any help, that anyone can give.
