Hello everyone,
I hope you’re all doing well. I work for a small non-profit community theatre in Evansville, Indiana. As the managing artistic director and only full-time employee, I faced some significant challenges during the pandemic, and continue to do so in the aftermath. But thanks to the incredible efforts of my dedicated board of directors and myself, we’ve managed to keep the performing arts alive in our city.
However, it hasn’t been easy. The pandemic hit us hard, and we had to leave our old home, finding ourselves in borrowed spaces to continue our performances and educational programs for the youth. As a full-time employee of a small non-profit, my salary is modest, and it has become even more challenging to make ends meet after the pandemic. My annual income, after taxes, is less than $28,000, which barely covers my basic living expenses.
Despite the financial strain, I am passionate about keeping this organization alive, and that’s why I’ve taken on additional opportunities like substitute teaching, donating plasma, and offering coaching to make extra money to pay my monthly bills. Recently, I’ve been working hard to get my finances in order, refinancing old debts into a single larger loan to manage them more effectively, while also making on-time payments on my car loan, personal health insurance, rent, utilities, medicine for my mental health, etc. However, even with these efforts, I find it tough to pay for essentials like food at the end of each month.
Now, as student loan repayments are resuming, I am concerned about meeting these new financial obligations. Unfortunately, I don’t qualify for debt relief, even though I’ve been with the non-profit for nine years, just shy of the ten-year requirement. I have $7,400 in student loans left to repay, and while it may not seem like much, when combined with my monthly expenses, an extra monthly payment becomes a significant burden.
That’s why I’m reaching out to you all. I am humbly asking for any support you can offer to help me pay off this student loan. Even a little help can make a huge difference and ease one of my monthly worries, enabling me to pursue my passion for arts and education without having to leave the field I love to hunt for a higher-paying job.
Thank you so much for taking the time to consider my request. Your kindness and support are greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Kevin C. Roach
