Graduate Student Needs Help Paying for Harvard MLA Biology

Hello,

Thank you for considering me. I have decided to go back to school and I will be working full time as an Emergency Medical Technician while trying to afford tuition for a Master’s in Biology at Harvard. This is expensive and I will need to move to Boston to take classes on campus in the near future. I would be extremely grateful for any tuition assistance from a generous individual. With this degree, I plan to apply to medical school as a dual PhD and MD applicant. My ultimate goal is to do research in traumatic brain injury, which piqued my interest because I was personally affected by a head injury as a teenager. The head injury really changed my life and altered my career path. I initially wanted to become a professional athlete, and I had to change my focus to a long recovery and the need to go to school after the accident. Since the life change, I have completed a Bachelor’s degree with honors in pre-medicine and psychology while working full time to save money for graduate and medical school. However, EMT’s really do not make enough money for what we do, and we are very underpaid in my area.

I grew up in a small town with parents who worked very hard to give me a wonderful childhood. We have faced many struggles, including disease, accidents, and economic hardship. I have been lucky to have their support growing up, but I am now on my own. Coronavirus has also put them in a very difficult situation as their business has shut down. 2020 has been an especially hard year for me as a financially independent 21 year old girl. I am lucky to have a job as an EMT, but I am struggling to pay rent, tuition, bills, and take care of my dog. I rescued him after he was hit by a car in front of my school and adopted him. He protects me and makes me feel safer as a young girl living alone. But, he is a husky and he cannot be left home when I go to work. My shifts are about 10-12 hours, so I have to take him to daycare, and it can be a hefty monthly bill. Each month, I pay about $350-400 in dog care. On top of daily living bills and insurance, I will need to pay about $10,000 in tuition every 4 months (per term) for a year. This is about $30,000 plus books and other costs of schooling.

I am a very giving individual myself- I have fulfilled all of the requirements necessary to apply to both medical school and PhD programs, including hundreds of community service hours. Many of these were Christian activities as well as humanitarian work through organizations like Red Cross. I am truly a kind, loving individual who cares for all people and I want to make a career doing so – but I need help paying the tuition to get there! I intend to help sponsor or donate to young aspiring individuals like myself when I find success as a future physician scientist. If there is any way to identify a donator, I will send handmade thank you cards and bless you in my prayers. Thank you very much.
