Hello, I am Angela, one of many hard working Emergency Room nurses working during the COVID-19 pandemic. I have the need for assistance with student loans is paramount due to several compelling reasons.
Firstly, the role of nurses during this global health crisis cannot be overstated.
Nurses have been on the front lines, providing crucial care to patients, often at great personal risk.
Our dedication and sacrifices have been commendable, as they tirelessly work to save lives and alleviate suffering. However, despite our essential contributions, many nurses are burdened with significant student loan debt accumulated during their education and training.
Secondly, the financial strain imposed by student loans can exacerbate the already stressful circumstances faced by nurses during the pandemic.
Long hours, 12 & 16 hour shifts back to back; emotionally demanding work, and concerns about personal safety are just some of the challenges they encounter daily. The additional pressure of loan repayment can contribute to burnout and affect both their mental/spiritual, and physical well-being, ultimately impacting their ability to provide quality care to patients.
Moreover, the economic repercussions of the pandemic have exacerbated financial difficulties for many individuals, including nurses. Post covid we have now changing inconsistent schedules, flip flopping form days to nights, with reduced hours, pay cuts,or still living paycheck to paycheck, making it even more challenging to meet loan obligations.
Furthermore, providing assistance with student loans for nurses is not only a matter of supporting individuals but also an investment in public health infrastructure.
By alleviating the financial burden on nurses, healthcare organizations can help retain experienced professionals and attract new talent to the field. This, in turn, strengthens the healthcare workforce, ensuring continuity of care and better outcomes for patients, both during the pandemic and beyond.
In conclusion, Emergency Room nurses working during the COVID-19 pandemic urgently need assistance with student loans due to the critical nature of their work, the financial strain imposed by loan obligations, and the broader impact on public health. By providing support in this area, we not only acknowledge the invaluable contributions of nurses but also invest in the resilience and sustainability of our healthcare system.
I have paid off 40K of my loans, with a remaining 22K left. I worked 60 hours a week during a global pandemic to make this happen, on multiple contracts in cities coast to coast, leaving my family to serve the community & have a chance in reducing my own debt’s.
I am now tired, and find it harder to put one foot in front of the other working just to pay the debt that was needed, to learn to save lives in Emergency Medicine. We all work very hard, however the pandemic has caused many losses to nurses’ lives in hospitals. I can no longer commit to overtime shifts, just to pay this loan at the risk of losing my physical and mental health. Over the course of the pandemic, I lost two nurse colleagues to Covid and one Respiratory Therapist.
If it is on your heart to donate to a hard-working ER nurse, please help.
I have a family who would love to see me more often.
Helping one nurse at a time has a ripple effect to the entire community.
I am approaching 20 years as a trauma and critical care ER nurse, love what I do, and will always help my patients to the best of my ability as this is my calling.
Thank you in advance,
Angela Marie
