Hello all! Here’s our story:
Back in June I lost my job at a pediatric clinic due to my 5 year old’s frequent illness. She has asthma, and a weaker than average immune system, and when she gets sick her breathing problems keep us both at home for days until she recovers. My job’s attendance policy would not excuse my absences in order for me to care for her, even though upon hiring I was told I wouldn’t have to worry about it. When I lost my job I started doing gig work—DoorDash, Uber, Walmart Spark, and Lyft—and I believe that financially I would have been okay if I had not started from a point where I was already trying to catch up. I previously had to use some of my rent money to pay for a repair on my car. So I’ve been trying my hardest to catch up on bills since then. I did receive assistance for my rent payment last month, but only for a portion. Now as I write this it is August 11th and I’ve received my late rent notice, my car alternator has died (I’m using a friend’s car temporarily so I can do gig work), school is starting and I have no new clothes or school supplies for my kids, and my food stamps application is pending after they lost my recertification forms and I had to reapply. I have payment plans set up for my utilities, but I would be so so grateful if somehow I could crowdfund to get me back to ground zero with everything, or at least close to it.
I’ve never been at a point this low before, and I’m doing well to keep my spirits up. I don’t want my children to see my stress. I’m full of hope that I will find a way to better our situation, so I was optimistic when I heard about this site.
Here are the expenses I need help with:
Past due rent and late fees: $1100
New alternator: $300
Duke Energy past due and current charges: $337
Water bill past due and current charges: $232
School supplies and clothes: $400
Groceries while pending food stamps application: $300
Child Care fee: $213
Anything helps, even if I can just get my rent paid to keep a roof over our heads. Thank you to all who give or share my story and much love to you and yours!
