Good morning,
My name is Lolitha Terry, and I am 54 years old. I have a 14-year-old daughter whose name is Saraiyah. We are currently residing in Kansas. I have been a single mother since 2012. The short version of my story is that my husband and I divorced, and he left me in a world of debt and bad credit. I am not here to bash him in any kind of way. It is unfortunate that he had many challenges that led to him becoming addicted to drugs which became a nightmare for me. I had no choice but to file for divorce in 2015.
I’ve always been able to work and good jobs with decent pay. My background is Executive Assistant. I’ve worked in Public Schools, Government, and Higher Education. My last job was in Higher Education, Executive Assistant to Chair of Interdisciplinary Studies in Atlanta, GA. In 2018 I was forced to leave my job because my daughter at the time was 10 years old and was having a very hard time dealing with our divorce and one day while at school, she attempted suicide in the bathroom by trying to cut her wrist with a pair of scissors. It was at that point that I realized, I was drowning in trying to take care of us and not paying close enough attention to her. She was crying out for attention from her father who never came. She barely talked to me because she was angry thinking it was my fault. I had to get her help which was so expensive because she had to see therapists continuously. I ended up depleting my 401K down to $13,000. I had to keep going in it to try and get us out of the debt we were in. So, in March of 2018, I had to quit my job to see about my daughter because I was missing so much time at work and eventually, I was going to be fired. So, I quit so that I could go to her school, be home when the bus came, and give her my full attention. She got better and I had two heart attacks from the stress of it all. I recovered from my heart attacks and started my own Virtual Assistant Business. My business did really well until Covid hit. My clientele was hit by Covid and my business declined. We became homeless in March 2020. We lived in a hotel from March 2020 to September 2021. One of my clients in Kansas was willing to help and offer my daughter and I the opportunity to move to Kansas to get on my feet. We moved and my business became stable again until July 2022. In July and August of 2022, I developed Covid and was not able to do anything. On September 6th, 2022, I had two strokes and became partially paralyzed on my left side. In October 2022, my doctors found two polyps which were cancerous, they removed the two polyps only to find a huge mass in my colon. I was diagnosed with colon cancer. I had my first surgery November 4, 2022, and because the cancer was aggressive it was spreading fast to my rectum, so I had to have robotic sigmoid resection surgery on December 13, 2022. The doctors didn’t think I would live simply because the strokes had caused damage and they felt that the surgery would take 6 hours and I would bleed out on the table because of blood clotting. Needless to say, I’m still alive and so grateful but after the surgery, they found more cancer in two of my lymph nodes and they recommended Chemotherapy. when my body was strong enough. So, in January and February of 2023, I was supposed to begin chemo, but I was still too weak. In March 2023, my son, 22 was killed in Atlanta, and in April, I found out I was being evicted. May 2023, someone stole my car while I was in Atlanta attending my son’s funeral. I have not been able to work or operate my business since September 2022 and I need help getting back on my feet.
I am doing so much better and now my cancer is in remission. I am asking for enough help for the rest of this year to get back on my feet. I am currently 4 months behind in rent and I have been trying to get rental assistance. I need to get all of my bills paid in full, I need to get my daughter uniforms and tuition paid for school by August 1st. I am humbly asking for ANY assistance you can offer me. I have been without lights and gas several times and I’m still trying to get work from home jobs as a Virtual Assistant. My daughter’s birthday is July 15th and I have absolutely nothing to give her, my dog needs to go to the vet, and I can’t take her because I just don’t have the money. Please help me!
I am grateful to all of you who take time to read this post and help others. It is my desire to help others just as you are doing right now. Before getting sick, I was creating an Academy for Single Moms to learn how to become a Virtual Assistant, Author, and Entrepreneur. I know the struggle of being a Single Mother and my heart desire is to become so financially abundant that I can help other Single Mothers become financially abundant. I’m not saying this to impress you, but to impress upon you that, I appreciate what you all do because it is my desire to do the same. Thank you in advance for your assistance and support.
