5 years ago I was diagnosed with a rare breathing condition known as Idiopathic Subglottic Stenosis. Many of the Dr’s near me didn’t know what was wrong with me. I went through several doctors telling me I had asthma and anxiety and would prescribe inhalers and meds. None of which worked. Finally I became my own advocate and sought help elsewhere. Elsewhere led me to a Dr. that discovered what was wrong with me and I had surgery on my trachea. Fast forward and I’ve 22 procedures on my trachea. One of those was supposed to “cure” me. It’s such a rare condition that Dr’s are just now in the research phase of this condition.
Just throwing this information out there: If you have a female in your life who all of a sudden is having difficulty breathing while doing things such as walking up and down stairs, carrying heavy items, even taking a shower. You need to get her to a Dr and don’t let them say it’s just asthma. Many people would say I sounded like Darth Vader for a reference of what the condition sounds like!!! This condition is primarily found in women between the ages of 30 and 50.
Ok, so my dilemma. That many surgeries has left my family(me, 17yr old son and 15 yr old daughter) in a financial pickle. That and my wages were cut $600 a month in August.
My daughter has been asking for a $20 coat because it’s around 20 degrees everyday but I literally don’t have any extra money to spare so she gets by with her sweatshirt. As a parent this makes me feel like such a failure. My son wants some socks because a lot his have holes in them. My medical bills currently are $1541.89, my jeep repair bill is $1471.13, and I really would like to get my kids some new clothes for Christmas. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it. One day I hope to be able to pay it forward to someone in need.
Take care and best wishes to you and your family
