My name is Myriam and I want to thank you in advance for taking the time to read my request and for your help.
I’m a single mom of 1 and we need to move asap. The place we currently live in is no longer a safe place for us to live in. We had a power shortage a few weeks ago. When the power was back, I check the water tank to make sure that it was heating properly and the electrical wires protective layer actually melted. Not only that, there is a serious mold problem in the bathroom, in winter my bedroom is a freezer because there is no isolation at all. 2 years ago, new tenants moved in and since then we’ve been having bug problems. I told my landlord about these issues but he just doesn’t care. It’s problems after problems and I no longer can live in these conditions with my child.
I work a full time job and my salary is not enough for me to move because of the insane prices of rents.
I have to do everything on one salary: pay rent, pay bills (hydro, internet, phone, insurance) pay food, clothes for my kid, pay school, activities for my kid… It’s alot when you are on your own and with no one to help you. Sometimes i don’t sleep and I cry at night because of the stress that I am experiencing, because of the fact that I don’t have any savings for better days, because If something happens to me, my kid will be left alone, and that scares me every single day. I would love to have my own house and leave the house to my kid but I am financially hurting and don’t have the funds to put a down payment to make that goal a reality. So renting has been my only option.
My kid and I have to move immediately to a safer environment. I looked for a new place to move in and a decent 2 bedrooms is minimum 2500$/ month.
I’ve always worked and never enjoyed asking for help. But today, I am asking because it’s not only about me, it’s about my kid and making sure that we are safe in our home. Having a full year of rent ( $30K ) plus moving fees and funds to clear my outstanding bills, put groceries in the fridge and get new clothes for my kid would be a life changer for us. It would allow me to have peace of mind and allow me to save for a down payment to purchase a new home and also buy a car. It’s not easy to be alone and work a full time job and be a full time parent. I did it, still doing it but I must admit that I am tired and exhausted of the mental and physical stress of not having enough money to live without worries.
