I’m in debt due to my bills and little income

To whom it may concern,

Hello, my name is Britannica Martin and I’m a single mother of three children. Their ages are 8 months, 2 years, and 4 years old. From July 2017 until now I’ve been a stay at home mom, as I’ve always wanted to be able to care for my children at home until they reached the age of 2, an age I felt comfortable putting them in someone else’s care. In that time I’ve earned my Associates Degree in Health Sciences, a Pharmacy Technician certification, and I’m currently a year into earning my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. I’ve recently gotten out of a mentally and emotionally abusive relationship, that lasted from October 2014 until August of last year, during the pregnancy of my baby girl. It was hard but I had finally gained enough strength to put my foot down, especially with my first baby girl being born months later. I lost what little financial help I had and I haven’t received voluntary child support from their father since February 2022. I’m in the process of complying with Child Support Services but he doesn’t work right now so I don’t see that being of any help any time soon. Since December of 2021 I’ve been doing delivery gigs to try to stay on top of my bills but in the last 3 months I’ve fallen terribly behind and things are at risk of falling completely apart. I was doing these deliveries with my children in the vehicle with me as I didn’t have enough proof of income and enough hours to qualify for help with childcare. I finally did enough gigs to qualify; I put my 4 year old in childcare 3 weeks ago and my 2 year old is due to start 7/11/22. Though I made enough to show some type of income it is not enough to cover my bills and gas (I drive my own vehicle to do deliveries), as I make about $600 a month. I am currently behind on my truck payment, which is $556 a month. I also fell behind on my insurance, which was $230 a month, but now my license has been suspended due to lack of insurance. It will cost $351 to renew my insurance, on top of a $150 reinstatement fee at the DMV. I’ve fallen behind on my electric bill, which has reached $856.48 (I was unable to get help from Lake Community Action through their LIHEIP program because I had help with my electric bill in August of last year and they help once every 12 months). I was able to get Lake Community Action to agree to pay something toward the balance from their crisis program but I have an email that says it can take up to 45 days to process. I also have a few credit cards that are maxed out and I have debt from using Pay Later services (Klarna, Deferit, etc.) I’m literally drowning right now and my only consolation is that my children don’t realize how tough things are for me. I pray that this reaches the person who can help relieve this stress and help me get on track so that when I find childcare for my 8 month old (which I hate to have to do because she’s so young but it’s necessary) I can start a job with a clean slate instead of trying to play catch up or losing the things I’ve worked hard to keep before I can get a paycheck. I thank you for taking the time to read this, blessings.
