For Christmas, I thought it would be a good idea to sell my 2017 GMC Acadia, thinking I would be able to get my 6-year-old daughter the Christmas presents she requested from Santa. Her #1 top requested gift was a Nintendo switch. In my head, I thought that I would be able to sell my vehicle, pay off my auto loan through GMC, use some of the access monies for Christmas presents for my daughter as well as my family, and use the rest to purchase another vehicle (at a high monthly rate). Once I sold my vehicle, I soon found out that getting another vehicle was going to harder than I thought. My credit score has not always been great, but because of my prior loans and debt obligations, I found out that my auto credit score is 492, way below a poor score. When the new year started, I was down to $3000 for a down payment on a vehicle. Auto loan companies weren’t hearing it because of my score. Since the 1st, I have used some of those monies for other bills and a car rental for 2 weeks. I had to give the rental back due to me running out money to pay each week at $307 a week last Friday. I live in a small town with public transportation, but because of covid, the times and routes have been altered to keep people waiting outside in the cold. I paid over $100 to fill up a friend’s vehicle so I could use it when she has the time, I have gotten to use her car one time to help out my eldest daughter after she and her boyfriend survived a hit-and-run accident in the town they live in (they are going to be okay as of the date on this letter), but then my friend has flaked on me more times this week than I like to explain. My closet relative willing to drive me around is a 30-minute drive away and works 7 days a week. I walk to places close to my home, but my daughter doesn’t have the energy to walk with me. I am a single mother of a 6-year-old and physically disabled, I should have a vehicle. If I would have known, then what I know now… I shouldn’t have sold my vehicle. I was too confident in the ability to get another so soon. And now, I am paying the price. I looked online helpful alternatives, and while trying to find auto options for my score and budget, I saw that could create a post, pray, and hope for the best. Auto lenders want to see at least $5000 USD and I already have $1000. Any amount will help to reach this goal.
