Hey! My name is Jen and I am a mom to 3 amazing little ones. I have a 6 year old girl in grade 1 who absolutely loves school. She also loves talking, mostly about healthy fruits and vegetables.(and farts😂)
My son just recently turned 4, and he is amazingly wild and crazy, but also has the sweetest side to him. He is to start JK this week finally after approval from the school to let him attend in a pull ups because he’s not fully potty trained🙄.
And finally my youngest is just 9 weeks old. She is as amazing as a little baby can be. Just recently my daughter started smiling, I’m just waiting for her to find her little voice to hear her laugh.
Unfortunately life has gotten the better of me. At the beginning of August I had to take my dog to the emergency vet and ended up having to have her put down. That bill came to just under $900. That’s 1/2 of my income. That pushed me from already struggling to about to have my hydro shut off. Not only did I fall behind on bills (hooray for a $1500 hydro bill😳) but it out me behind on my ability to keep food in my cupboards. I typically rely on eating toast and peanut butter or eggs and toast and then whatever is left after dinner when my little ones have finished. I couldn’t tell you the last time I drank something other than water. Juice comes in boxes and is for my daughters lunch. Somedays she doesn’t even get one, just water. Her school used to have a lunch program so I didn’t have to worry if I didn’t have enough to send in her lunch, but due to Covid-19 the program is not running. I do my best to breastfeed the baby but I’m having to supplement with formula so I’m able to get help from friends and family with feedings to catch a little break sometimes or just so I’m not feeding for hours and we all sleep just a tiny bit better. I’ve never formula fed so this is a new expense that I wasn’t prepared for. Baby also had a reaction to Pampers diapers and we had to switch to Huggies, I had stocked up on Pampers as thats what my other two children always used so now I have like 10 packs of diapers up to size 2/3 that we can’t use or return. But I still need to purchase the correct brand now. I can’t keep up with the amount my kids ask for snacks, I had to padlock my cupboards to keep my wild child out. He’s a counter climber and really does “need a nack mom” all the time whether he’s allowed to or not.
I use the local food bank when I can and sometimes we pick up meals at at the blessing center, but I try to avoid having to take my children to have to see some of the things you never want to have your kids see.
I’m just needing to get caught up, to get back to a place where I don’t have to worry what will happen next or how I’ll get through the month until a little money comes.
