I’m currently a senior in college pursuing a 4yr degree in psychology and gender studies with a minor in biology. I’ve been supporting myself through two jobs, two on campus jobs between classes, and making sculptures to sell to people for some extra cash just to pay for rent, loans, and food. It’s been a hard 4yrs and these scammers I encountered made it even worse.
A few weeks ago I was contacted by what I thought was a genuine human being who had noticed my attempt at being fully self sufficient since my parents are not able to support my dad’s cancer bills and my college education at the same time. This person reassured me that he could give me 4,000$ USD as a gift to help take the pressure off of me for a little while. I kept contact through emails, seeing none of the typical red flags that most scammers do.
After a few weeks of contact with this person I got a check sent to my PO box that I was told to cash in when I could. I cashed it. It went through. No problems from the bank for an entire month. I used that money to help start paying off one of my larger loans. I thought everything was looking up for once, but still kept up with my numerous jobs.
A month passed and I got an overdraft email from my bank saying they were charging me overdraft fees on my account. I hadn’t used my bank card for any large purchases that would have overdrafted my account recently. I checked my balance, and discovered I was completely out the 4000$ I had been “gifted” along with being stuck paying 60$ overdraft fee that continues to increase the more I’m overdrafted.
If anybody out there could offer even a little bit of help, any help would be greatly appreciated. I normally try to be self sufficient on nearly everything I can since I’m used to being an only child in a household with two working parents and many many cancer bills being paid off.
My paypal is paypal.me/cloudforestcrow . Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!!
