Hi guys, I’m Justin.
I was recently a victim of cybercrime, in that when selling my Wii U on eBay, the buyer sent me a text message saying it was his daughter’s birthday and he needed $300 worth of Steam gift cards, then got an email disguised as eBay/PayPal saying that I needed to do so with the cards scratched off. It was my first time selling on eBay so I didn’t think anything of his request.
Long story short, it turns out it was all a scam and I ended up spending money on Steam gift cards and mailing them to the address he sent. I ended up getting robbed out of $799. I even lost my Wii U!
So, yeah, I’m pretty upset about these horrible people taking my money. But I’m trying to stay positive about this. There’s nothing I can do at this point but just try to think positive, laugh it off, and ask you guys for help. Literally anything helps! Even pennies! I hope that I am eventually able to make all of this back up someday.
If you need any more evidence of the scam aside the picture attached, the other pictures are posted here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1JLFCZwmD1E_HjoiCwZQd1RwYfKJaRb73?usp=sharing
To send me any donations, send it to me at: paypal.me/justine643
My dream is to one day become a philanthropist (I legitimately want to be part of The Giving Pledge someday), and instead of hurting people like these horrible scammers, I want to help people. I come from a fairly poor environment, but I’ve managed to save up some money before college (unfortunately, I just ended up wasting some of that money on these scammers) and plan to use what I save on getting out of my bad environment, creating a better future for myself, and most importantly — . I have a long ways ahead but every little bit helps! Losing this money was definitely a blow, but I’m not giving up by any means. I’m staying positive and optimistic!
Lesson to everyone: don’t fall for gift card schemes. Be critical of messages and emails (and I wouldn’t be openly telling you to do this unless I was being 100% honest about all of this – my request for donations isn’t a scam, but that doesn’t mean you should believe me at face value. :) ). And most importantly, stop asking waiters if they have the “super salad.” No one likes Dad jokes!

Have a fantastic day/week/year/century,
P.S. Sorry if it seems like I’m not taking this super seriously. I try to make light of this situation because there’s nothing that can be done at this point. Plus I like helping people laugh so if you got a chuckle from one of my “jokes,” I did my job!
