Greetings!
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. It wasn’t easy for me to do this…Reaching out to you on this platform may be one of the most difficult things I have ever had to do. We are living in unprecedented times and so many are facing hardships. I am now one of those people. Please find a few moments to read my letter and if you can help me in any way, it would mean the world to me.
For over a year now, I have been seeking employment. Before the pandemic, I worked as an ESL instructor, doing what I love the most, which is helping my students to make their American Dream a reality. That all came to an abrupt end in 2020. Since then, I have been struggling to find gainful employment.
I have applied to so many jobs. Some seemed promising, but then the rejection emails started to come back one by one. Some employers didn’t ever give a response, but I keep trying. In an effort to find any type of work, I have applied for jobs I am not actually trained in or have the skills to do. But hey! It’s better to try than not to try at all…or so they say.
As a result of my situation, the little bit of savings I had is gone. Though we lost my Dad last year and my Mom doesn’t have much to live on herself, she did help out a couple of times. But she just can’t continue and I can’t put her through the hardship either.
My landlord has been understanding. But at the beginning of December, I was given until the end of this month, otherwise I would have to vacate. They were “generous” enough to send me an invoice for the unpaid rent, in lieu of charging me a late fee and an eviction notice. Yet, I just don’t have the money to pay my rent and now I do face eviction. This is such a terrible thing for me because I have always been willing to help others in need. Now, I am faced with this terrible challenge.
My past due rent is $900. Please find it in your heart to make any donation you can. I promise to pay it forward once I am back on my feet.
