I am a single mother of 3 seeking financial assistance to move in a new apartment. I am employed full time as an Accounting Assistant and also a full time student at The University of Alabama. I previously resided with my grandmother after I was in a terrible car accident that almost ended my life. My rehabilitation was long and difficult. 6 months after my accident, my grandmother lost her 10 year long battle with breast cancer. My mother and aunt then decided to sale her home. For the last year I have been adamantly looking for another place to live. The housing possibilities along the Gulf Coast are either non existent or extremely expensive. I have been on every waiting list possible and have tried to save as much money as possible but it is very hard with 3 children her are actively involved in sports and school activities and extra curriculars plus just the expenses of regular bills and every day living. I do not receive child support as my oldest two children’s father passed and we were denied SS benefits. I have 50/50 custody with my youngest sons father so we split costs of everything and provide for him at each household. I am a full time student trying to further my education and increase my income to provide a better life for my children and myself. I have an apt that came available that I can move in on July 1st. The rent is $1200/month (which is on the low end around here) with a $1200 deposit. I have $1800 for the first month and the deposits to have the utilities turned on, I just need help with the deposit. I can provide documentation for anything I have stated and would also sign a Promissory Note for re-payment. I normally don’t ask for help but If I miss this opportunity I am not sure when the next one will arise. I am just hoping and praying I can get us settled before the new school year starts.
