Hello. I’m roughly $400 short on rent this month.
In reality I probably shouldn’t have taken up living in this house but I’ve been okay for the past 7 months, until now. The rent per month is $3,550 for 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. The house is actually quite old and below the average home in the area (welcome to Bay Area) so it’s not because I decided to get something luxurious, and I also have roommates who help cover the rent. One of my roommates lost their job so I’m struggling to make ends meet this month and the others aren’t able to help, plus I decided to take sick time this month for the flu and it’s unpaid because I used my sick time earlier this year for Covid. Times are hard for everyone so I understand if you’re unable to help. After this month I should be set up for success since I can budget in my roommate not paying and make sure I don’t take any more sick days, or pray that my roommate is able to find a job to help them pay their portion of the rent. This may sound silly but I don’t have any savings. It isn’t because of poor spending, but more so just that I don’t make enough to live on comfortably. I only bring home $500 a week which seems like a lot to some of you I’m sure, but price of living coorelates with what we make.
For my job I work in content review for a social media company but unfortunately it’s a “contractor” job and isn’t paying the full amount. I’ve been looking for a second job as well but lately it’s difficult to find something in my area which is viable for cost of gas/time traveling for part time. I am from a small town in a midwestern state (Indiana) and this area is much harder to live in, but the opportunities make it worth it for the most part. I am at a loss of what to do this month since contractually I’d have to pay 10% more if the payment is late, plus since the lease is in my name I’m not sure if that affects my credit at all although I know it doesn’t look good for renters credit or if I need a future referral.
In short- I’m asking for $400 for my rent. Any bit will help. Thank you for your time and I hope that you’re all safe.
