Recently, I found myself in an unfortunate situation. Despite my unwavering dedication and experience, I lost my teaching job due to the mandatory retirement policy imposed by our country. At the age of 58, I was forced to step away from a profession I loved and had devoted years to. The hurdles of ageism have hindered my search for alternative teaching opportunities, leaving me at a crossroads in my career path.
Rather than succumbing to despair, I have chosen to embark on a new venture – starting my own business to help other teachers. I firmly believe that entrepreneurship holds the key to a brighter future, not only for myself but for those I love as well. However, launching a business requires a foundation of financial stability, which is why I am reaching out to you today.
I am humbly requesting your generous support in providing me with a temporary reprieve from the burden of paying rent for the next three months. With this breathing space, I can invest in my business, secure necessary supplies, and promote its growth during the critical initial phase. In addition to my own challenges, my Syrian husband is also facing financial hardship. He had to close the doors of his business due to the devastating impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, leaving him without any income flow. To compound matters, he incurred debts while supporting his brother, who suffered tremendous losses as a result of the recent earthquake in Syria. The weight of medical bills, the loss of his home, and the heartbreaking death of three children have placed an immense burden on our family.
