My name is Dayle and until recently I was the main source of income for my family of four. I have a wife and 2 kids, a young man of 16 and a girl age 8. On 10/7/14 I was in a car accident. A car turned right in front of me as I was going through the intersection. The other driver got the ticket because it was not my fault, but as my dad used to say, ” you can be right and you can be dead right”. I was injured in the crash and now have a ruptured and herniated disc in the lower lumbar area between L4-L5. This causes a great deal of pain. I have been out of work since because I am unable to sit, stand, or even walk without being in greater pain. My doctor has said no lifting, bending, or twisting. I am currently in therapy to reduce pain and maintain some movement. The doctors tell me that my injury will not be helped by surgery. As of the end of November I am now out of extended sick time and also vacation. Also will be without a job shortly as they cannot hold it for me indefinitely. It was only with the help of family that we did not get evicted right before Christmas. Neither my wife nor I have well to do relatives and they will not be able to help us again soon. My wife has started another job to help with the day to day costs but is not able to cover rent. We are currently waiting on a settlement but have been told this could take from 1-3 years. We are unable to get an advance or loan against the settlement as it is illegal in Colorado, so I’ve been told. I have checked on the “safety net” that the government has and it’s either backed up a year or they can’t help until we are out on the street. I do qualify for disability but have been told it will take 3-6 months before it will go through. So I am left with trying to get money any way I can just to keep a roof over our heads. My church is able to help with part of this months rent but we still need $750 by 1/10/15. We pay $1250/mo. for this small 3 bedroom apartment. $4500 would pay for the rest of our lease and $19,500 would pay for this lease and another year. That’s all the further I’m looking ahead right now. Not sure what else God has in store for us. I cannot tell you how appreciative my wife and I will be for whatever you can give to help us out. Thank you!
