Hi everyone, my name is Briya. I hate to have to do this but i’m in a desperate place right now. Basically, I rented out an apartment my sophomore year of college with two girls I had met the previous year in class. At the time, they seemed like they would make good roommates, that I would get along with. However, the experience turned out to be the exact opposite. One of my roommates had decided to buy a dog (he was a husky) to live in the apartment with us. She didn’t tell the leasing office about him, which my other roommate and I were fine with because the payment to have a dog there was pricey. I began having a problem with it when she started letting him do his business (poop & pee) on the balcony of our apartment without cleaning it up for days. Because of this, eventually damage to the balcony floor started occurring. Her dog also had abandonment issues, so when she would leave to go to class he would scratch at the back of her room door, the carpet underneath it, and in the tile in her bathroom. The damages were severe and I talked to her about having to pay for them at the end of our lease. We came to an agreement that whatever money was owed would be her responsibility. A few months after this conversation, both my roommates never returned to our apartment after Christmas break due to so-called “personal reasons,” and they broke their lease with the apartment. I was left to pay the rent on my own until I could find at least one other person to take their spot. I’m sure you all can imagine how stressful this situation was. Luckily, my parents were able to pull through and help me, until I eventually found another roommate. My roommate with the dog however, made it clear that she would still pay for the damages made in the apartment. I moved out in July, after the lease was up, and moved back with my parents. To make the long story short, my apartment sent me the bill for the damages which states I owe $2,066.18 within 30 days or the case will be turned over to a collection agency, which can essentially ruin my credit, and the credit of my guarantor (which is my dad). I contacted my roommate about it and she has yet to respond to me. And I can’t get in contact with my other roommate either, she’s also completely disappeared from all social media. I now only have a few days to get this money in and i’m no where near capable of paying it myself. My parents aren’t either, as they have other bills, and are trying to get ready to send my younger brother off to college, so they just don’t have this kind of money sitting around. If anyone could find it in their heart to donate, it would be greatly appreciated. I really hate to ask for this kind of help, but at this point I have no other option. Thank you for reading all of this and thank you in advance for any donation.
