Lost control of my life

(I don’t want to set an amount because I feel bad doing that. Instead I just ask for you to read my story and donate whatever you feel is best. Thank you!)

I just want to start off by saying thank you to anyone that chooses to listen to my problems and possibly help me with said problems. I will say that I should have taken this type of action long ago, but here I am now.

It’s extremely hard for me to ask for help with most things. So that is how I ended up where I am today. I am currently in debt around $2,500. I owe $900 for electric and the rest is due towards back and current rent. I have recently applied for Snap and Assistance for my electrical bill. It was previously around $1700. Thankfully the assistance program was able to pledge the amount that they did. It was around $700 plus pledged.

I’m currently unemployed, but that is not something that is normal for me. I was working at the local Cheddars Scratch Kitchen in Jonesboro, AR from 2017-2020. That is until I was let go due to Covid-19 shutdowns. That was in March 2020 and then the following month in April 2020 my town was hit by a horrible Tornado that literally destroyed Cheddars Scratch Kitchen. So, I was forced to get on unemployment until I found another job. I saved as money as best as possible until I found another job.

During this entire time, I was also dealing with issues inside the home. Those issues were between me and my ex fiancé. We had always agreed to split all bills down the middle, but those things started to change. I decided it was best for me to find somewhere else to live for a short time while we tried to focus on one another. So I moved in with a family member to try and start something new and better for myself. Well come to find out the family member that I had moved in with also had financial problems as well. I had received a job while living there and was paying them around $450 to stay not knowing that we all were going to be homeless soon. I stayed with them for about 3 months before I decided to ask if it was ok for me to move back into the home that I had left to work on myself. Luckily she had said it was ok for me to move back in and that we would work on things.

I was happy to move back in, but I found out that none of the bills except for internet and water had been paid since I had left. I honestly did not mind to pay up on the bills because I was so gracious to have a home. But I had to leave my job in February due to the snow/ice storm we had here in Jonesboro. I was told I had to be taken off the schedule due to me not being able to come into work on those days. And so I just let my boss at the time know I would be putting my two weeks in. I will say that is the moment I honestly messed up. I should have not left that job due to being taken off the schedule. I just had put in so much hard work to get the hours I was working. I just felt defeated at that point.

I never expect anything, but I do appreciate all things that come to me. I have applied for assistance and also applied for multiple jobs. So, at this point I’m just needing help to catch up and stay afloat until I get another job. I’m more than willing to talk to anyone that is interested in my story.
