Hello! I am requesting any amount of donations to simply stay alive. I am 24 years old and am enrolled at my local community college. I am only able to pay for my schooling because I have grants, but my grants only cover the cost of taking classes. I am currently paying out of pocket for class supplies, which has put me in a financial hard spot. I work full-time (40 hours) and take 5 classes. In order for me to receive my full grant award, I am required to be enrolled full-time also. I am a server in a local restaurant and leave with roughly $150 a night. My paychecks are roughly $400 because tips are taxed on top of my state’s minimum wage, $9.75. I get paid bi-weekly and am starting to struggle making my money stretch.
Here’s my fixed cost of living expenses:
-Rent $700
-Car insurance $150
-Car payment $200
-Groceries (2 weeks) $100
-Phone $100
-Shared utilities $150
-Minimum credit card payments $300
I don’t receive any financial help from family members due to having estranged relationships with them. I have gained credit card debt due to moving away from them. My father seems to track down my location, so I have moved roughly 5 times in the past 8 years.
I’ve been working full-time since I graduated high school in 2017. I first started working when I was 15 because my mother needed help paying for our living expenses due to her physical disabilities. I’ve held multiple jobs at the same time to pay for simply existing, but I am so burnt out. I can only give so much energy to jobs before I become mentally drained and physically exhausted.
I currently live with my ex partner and have been using most of my leftover tips to save money to afford my own place and any kinds of deposits required when moving. Most places for rent in my city range from $900-$1,800.
I am simply asking for donations to help me continue get by. I’ve been incredibly frugal since a teenager because I know how much money really rules the world. I don’t need large amounts of change, simply “chump change” to save for a rainy day. I currently have $46 in my savings account and $6.13 in my checking to last me until next payday. I’ve invested small amounts of money ($52 total) into online currency for emergency backup money, but I’ve started to dip into that money to purchase supplies, and realistically, food.
