My name is Christopher Seigle, I worked as a Computer Technician apprentice/contractor. Recently I was working through the school district and found short notice that my contract will be ending shorter than expected. A contract is annually and usually 3 years total but I only served 2 due to a change in my company’s policy. I’ve been laid off from work going 3 months now desperately searching for job opportunities. I continue to search today. Unfortunately, I’ve exhausted all my savings trying to keep the bills paid. It’s extremely difficult to do this on my own.
I tried to reach out to family but I have a terrible history with my family. I was brought up through a lot of abuse as a child into my adult years. I came from a deeply religious Muslim household living with my mother. Her husband kicked me out because I violated a religious house rule. I got caught urinating standing instead of staying seated. It only took one time, and before I knew it I started living with my grandparents by age 11. Into my teenage years, I’ve experience a lot of neglect and lack of essential needs like clothing and sometimes food. I became friends with my buddy louis. His mother provided clothes for me and helped me out a lot. The older I got, the more challenging life got for me. My grandparents didn’t want me around despite me being active and working. I’ve always stayed in school and always stayed out of trouble. Despite the constant bullying and fights as a child, I overcame that and became a Peer Mediator for my school for two years. I never been in trouble with the law once. I graduated high school, and was promised to get help to go to college but the promise was withdrawn from my grandfather, he didn’t believe I legitimately graduated. He always called me a failure and I would never succeed in anything, he believed I haven’t accomplished anything. I was told this for years. I found myself house hoping from family member to another. Ultimately I became homeless. Too old to get help from youth programs, and too young for any other program geared towards older people. It took everything in me to get off the streets, and all of this was prior to becoming a Computer Technician. I managed with the remaining patience I had bringing myself out of that situation and became what I am today. I absolutely must stay away from toxic family members, it’s no way I can get help from them.
I just want to continue doing what I love and help people. Currently I’m backed on rent two months and just need enough to get through while I continue my career search. Any contribution would be more than satisfying. Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
