I am a 34 yr old women in NYC whose been homeless on and off since 2017, I was evicted from my apartment because the landlord wanted more money which I obviously couldn’t afford. I have been able to work despite being homeless. throughout the pass 2 years I have tried to rent a room and for one reason or another I’ve not been able to stay long term but being in desperate need I would settle to stay just to stop from moving from hotel to hotel or keep out of any of the dangerous shelters. I have only been able to find rooms from people who do not have any lease or contract and like to rent on a month to month basis 1 person had arrangements with a person permanently and wanted to rent the room out to me while they were on vacation. there was another place where I was splitting rent of a room with a roommate and the roommate decided to leave at the end of the year which was only 4 months into renting leaving me with the full rent but then the landlord decided to kick everyone out the apartment last minute there was no lease or contract with this place either. the last place I was in I had to leave because the lady renting the room was very abusive towards me I wasn’t allowed to use the kitchen well honestly I was only there to sleep because I was working so much I barely saw them but when I was there she would always find a problem in the bathroom and blame me for it if it was my fault I would apologize and fix it I was gone for 2 days for Christmas and when I came back she said I messed up her toilet and window and made a sign in the bathroom calling me a pig. so now I am homeless whatever money I make goes to hotel rooms to stay throughout the week (which are not affordable either), food to eat, my phone bill for work and my transportation to and from work, as of now I only have part time hours at my job (24 hrs) I am going to an interview on Monday at another job I used to work for to get some more hours in. Its hard to get a stable place at the moment because I have bad credit and all the places that have long term contracts require background check and credit check which I cant afford to fix right now. I’ve also looked into renting right outside of nyc in jersey city within commute of my job just to try to find something affordable but I cant quite come up with enough to on time to make it happen. you should give me a donation to help me back into a permanent home, the funds would be used towards the rent and fees of getting a place if I was to get more than enough of donations it will even go to paying months in advance of rent while I work and am able to save, nothing would mean more to me at this time for the donations I promise it would go to good use would even be more than glad to keep all my donators updated with my progress with my new place. thank you to all who chose donate.
