I wrote another one of these but didn’t put my paypal down :(
My partner and I need financial aid towards bond, (4 weeks rent and 2 weeks advance) that we would need to pay to be able to rent a house together. At the moment we are working full time hours and still at the end of the week, we are lucky to have a shared $20. this is not because we are bad with money, this is because we have both had a few unlucky things happen – all very recently.
Us: A couple in our 20’s. we work 30+ hours a week and even then because we are paying debts (car loans, Christmas shopping loans and education loans) we are both lucky to have a shared $50 at the end of the week. this makes it impossible to save for bond money. which makes it impossible to rent a house. Which means we are inevitably going to be homeless.
The Story: My partner became homeless on January the 3rd, the owner of the house gave him less than a months notice just before Christmas that he would have to pack his things and leave because the owner had not been paying the mortgage as he had a gambling issue (the owner was also a friend of ours so we didnt want to put in a complain against him, he seems to have enough demons to conquer). I also was also told by my most recent housemate that she no longer wanted to resign the lease with me as she had second thoughts (I was promised a shared tenancy agreement with her verbally in December, moved my furniture in, went on a holiday came back with very little money and then told this just after new years). There was no reason other than she decided she still preferred to live alone. So, I moved into my Nans spare room, which I am grateful for but I was told it is only very temporary and I fear I am running out of time before I become homeless like my partner who is couch surfing or sleeping in his car which is also leaking badly because of all the rain we are witnessing at the moment. On top of this his grandfather passed away two days ago which has crushed him, it is just so unfortunate and unfair and anything to make our lives or his life easier at the moment would be awesome.
To have a place to call ours, to be able to sleep well for a full night and to not fear for our mental health or safety. That would truly be our dream right now.
So thank you for reading this. thank you for donating if you choose to. thank you from the bottom of our hearts. I promise when we are able to we will pay if forward.
Bond is usually 4 weeks rent, and two weeks rent paid in advance. (6 weeks worth of rent). In our area a one or two bedroom property is between $380-$450 (the $380 places look like crack dens and are usually very mouldy which I can’t live in due to respiratory problems, then again, a mouldy home is better than no home). So we are hoping for around $2280-$2700
