Help keeping a safe roof over my head as I heal and become more

Dear greatly appreciated future funder,

I’m writing to kindly request assistance with this upcoming year’s rent.  ($27,600 [2300 a month])

I am a 36 year old female who is on full term disability with an epileptic condition. Something very much similar to Drew Barymoore in 50 first dates, although not that extreme.  My seizures,  like her brain injury are located in my temporal lobe, so major seizures can wreak havoc on my brain and memory.

I just recently got divorced from an extremely abusive marriage, and my ex, sadly,  managed to get away without having to pay alimony. He did, however, have to provide a lump sum settlement that was used solely for rent and extra living expenses these past 2 years since the divorce but has now been depleted.

I was just happy to at least make it out alive and safe from that situation with something to get started.

My monthly disability amount is only 1100 and is considered just above poverty line so that it does not qualify for further government assistance beyond 200 in food stamps. (Which I’m truly grateful for) My rent however is 2300 a month. It seems to be skyrocketing every where these days when it comes to rent.

I managed to escape the abusive situation with my 2 pets along side me, who have been literal life savers and very emotionally supportive. So I lovingly look after all 3 of us on my disability income.  Lately, as they are older, I’ve also had some medical emergencies they both have had that came up unexpectedly, so that took a good portion of the settlement as well.

As my new life has started, I am now safe and far away in the cute and friendly small city of Salida, which I love dearly,  and where everything is very near (within 5 mins) so that I don’t have to risk traveling far with my seizures.

I’d truly love to stay here renting this home, where I’ve created a soothing sense of safety and healing.

As previously stated, my divorce settlement has now been depleted on rent and past living expenses, so I am looking for help for just another year.

I am only asking for a year’s worth because now that I have taken adequate time to heal and readjust, 2 moves, the divorce, the abuse, etc. Now I’m looking to try and pick up one of my passions for side income.  Since I’m unable to work, it is something I can do at my own pace and work around my seizures.

Every since I was 13, I have read tarot, interpreted dreams, and charted astrology. I have been researching how to pick up more clientele with this (I already have a few), how to create online content on YouTube and much more within that field, to monitize and network. I am very motivated to get started and to really try to turn it into something.  I have done a lot of research and seen others do so much with it.

So I’m hoping to be able to support myself with that,  but would be very grateful to know my rent is secure this year, that I have a safe roof over our heads, so that I can get that started and underway.

As I said,  I unfortunately do not qualify for more government aid, and 1100 isn’t even half of what I need to cover my rent, sadly.  Sometimes I really cut months close with the rising cost of groceries for me and my little ones (my dog Ladybug, and cat Bear) on just the 1100 alone.

My little ones have helped me heal so much. I love them dearly.  However, I’m unable to move in with family with them because all my family members either do not have the space,  or have pet allergies.

This current rental home has been such a haven of safety,  and has helped me heal so much.  I’m usually not one to ask if I were not in dire straits and again, I am looking to make more of myself,  especially since I’m on the road to healing,  and am in a more secure safe space.

Forever grateful for any and all help, sincerely,

Amanda
