Dear Community and Potential Supporters,
In July of 2023, I stepped into the role of senior pastor at our local church, a place that has always been a beacon of hope and support for our community. With this position, I inherited not only the spiritual responsibilities but also the operational challenges of keeping our church and its vital services running, including our food pantry which is crucial for so many in our neighborhood.
Our church is currently bound by a three-year lease agreement, costing $3,200 a month, a figure that does not include other essential expenses such as gas, water, electricity, and necessary supplies like cleaning materials, printer ink, and paper. These costs are fundamental to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for both our congregation and the various services we offer, especially our food pantry.
The pantry itself is a lifeline for families facing hardship, requiring a well-maintained space for storage and a pest-free environment to ensure the food remains safe to distribute. Additionally, our ability to pick up donations is currently hindered by a simple yet unresolved issue: our church van is out of commission due to a flat tire, an expense we’ve been unable to cover due to our financial constraints.
On a personal note, my family is in a precarious situation. We’re struggling to keep up with our rent and utility bills, including an electricity bill that threatens to leave us in the dark. The stress of potentially losing our home and the fear of not being able to provide a stable environment for my family weigh heavily on me.
I’ve always been someone who believes in hard work, taking on various jobs from maintenance to IT, despite my physical limitations. But these challenges have reached a point where I must reach out for help, something that doesn’t come easily to me.
We are in dire need of support to keep our church operational and to provide for my family. Whether it’s assistance with the church’s lease and utility bills, contributions towards our food pantry’s operational needs, or help to cover our immediate family expenses, every bit of support will have a significant impact.
Asking for help is humbling, and it reinforces the importance of community and compassion in our lives. If you’re moved to support us in any way, please know that your generosity will be met with the deepest gratitude and will directly contribute to sustaining a place where people can come to feel safe, loved, and supported in their faith and daily lives.
Thank you for taking the time to read my appeal and for considering any assistance you can offer. Together, we can overcome these challenges and continue to make a difference in the lives of those we serve.
With heartfelt appreciation,
A Dedicated Pastor, Father, and Husband
