Greetings All,
My name is Chapri Kelly (39) and I am a mother of 3, ages 17,16,13. I’m currently temporarily unemployed, as I work in a private school and it’s summer break, and I’m struggling with rent, bills, and sustaining my children. I’m currently 2 months behind on my rent and trying my best to keep us housed and together.
Our backstory, we were forced from the home we lived in for 4 years in August 2020 during the pandemic. We lived in subpar conditions throughout our time there and were subsequently put out after years of back and forth with our landlord. We spent 18 months in hotels, and going from place to place, and sometimes separated for months. In March of 2022 we finally got a home, in which we currently reside.
I started working at a private Catholic highschool cafeteria last November, in the hopes of having a better quality of life for us all. The pay was a little better ($18/hr) than my previous employer, they have benefits, and I get to spend time with my family. Our last day of work was in June, and we were temporarily laid off. I’ve been trying to budget what I receive in unemployment ($295), and I’ve also been trying to work some freelance jobs, tried to get a vegan dessert business started and sell my plants from my garden to no avail.
My rent is $1260 and our bills bring our monthly living expenses well above $2500. I currently owe over $2500 in rent, school starts in less than a month and we’re living on less than $1200 until I start working again in September. I need $5000, to cover past due rent and part of next month, late fees, and school supplies and uniforms.
All donations are greatly appreciated and I thank everyone in advance for any help we can get. This helps my youngest son continue his education at his magnet school, my daughter to complete her Honors classes, and my oldest son to finish highschool, as they won’t have to worry about where we’re going to live, or if we’re going to be split up again.
All I want is my children to be able to enjoy their lives and be safe, happy and housed. If it was just me I wouldn’t even ask. Attached is the link to my Cash app, for anyone who wants to help us.
Again, we truly appreciate any assistance we receive and will be ever grateful for being able to stay in our home. This is the beginning of our next chapter and we’re hoping for a better day.
Chapri
