After moving to London for employment, I’ve managed to land myself a great, but not well-paying job in an area that interests me. I work hard, and am knowledgable in my field, but the company cannot better compensate me until next year.
Due to London’s high living costs (Both rent and food is extortionate), I’ve been living frugally over the last two years in order to survive till my next paycheck.
My outgoings are limited to Rent, Bills, Student loan, Travel, and a very very modest food budget. (And who said you didn’t learn anything at university).
Things are generally looking up, and I’m lined up to get a new position in the new year which will give me some actual ‘Take-home’ after all my outgoings, but until then, I’m at something of an impasse.
I want to continue working and living in London, and I’m privileged to be one of the few people on the planet who can say with complete honesty that I adore my job, however despite my modest lifestyle I’m in a position where I can actually feel a difference when it comes to the ‘longer’ months.
I’m at the point where I’m having to cycle late payments in order to pay off my masters degree, or the electricity.
That being said, I’m forced to live only slightly above my means, so any additional income would bring me over my outgoings and actually be a huge boon by way of having money in my hand that isn’t already promised elsewhere.
I’d love to be in a position to explore this thriving city and all it has to offer, but at this point, it’d be a blessing just to not have half-portions of pasta for the last week of the month.
Thank you for your time,
