Hello, my name is Alexandra and I’m a dog mom to a beautiful pitbull-dogo argentino mix which I adopted when he was 3 years old, 4 years ago. Honestly he saved my life as I was struggling with daily panick attacks and social anxiety. He gave me the strength to leave the abusive relationship I was in at the time.
Since then I moved back to my hometown in Crete, Greece from Athens.
Greece is not in the best of financial states and so are us the people who live here.
When I first moved back to my hometown I had to live with my mother for a while. She is my only family member aside from my brother who lives in another country. We are not on speaking terms with my mother as she struggles with undiagnosed mental health issues.
As soon as I got a good paying job I found my own apartment for me and my dog. Unfortunately I was laid off in December after 7 months due to budget cuts. I had money saved up so I was ok for a few months while looking for another job. And thankfully I found a good seasonal job. Regular jobs pay only the minimum of 600€ per month and my rent is 320€ per month plus other expenses (dog food, groceries, electricity etc)add up to around 580€ per month. Seasonal jobs in Crete usually start late March, early April but the pay is really good. I still don’t know when we start working.. I was told around the beginning of April.
I am left with 90€ at the moment and haven’t paid this month’s rent(which means I need to pay two months of rent at the beginning of April), electricity or phone bill. My refrigerator is empty. I don’t know how to divide the 90€ to last us for until I get paid from the job that I haven’t started yet. Also my dog is behind on his yearly vaccine. And the new bills will be coming in the beginning of April so I will be two months behind with everything. I try not to use electricity as much as I can so the next bill will be as low as possible.
I’m trying not to panick but it’s really really hard because I know that even if I manage with the remaining 90€, my first salary will all be for things that I owe and nothing will be left for me to live until the next one. Fortunately I have a good friend that lives nearby and they invite me to eat with them so I can save money on food.
I really don’t know how to ask for this and I’m tearing up while writing this, but hopefully someone will read this and decide that they can help us to pass this extremely dry 2 months that we’re about to have.
I will be eternally grateful.
Thank you, Alexandra.
