Asking for donations to rapidly pay off a debt of 1510,68 USD in order to avoid legal pursuits

Hello, my name is Pascale Dina D-Kamal. I live in Madagascar with my husband and my two young daughters. I’m asking for your help to pay off a debt me and my family really struggle to pay. It is a bill of a one year house rent and electricity we could not afford to pay since 2020, during the lockdown. We need to pay it as soon as possible because the house owners sued my husband as we couldn’t complete the whole payment since a too long time. And they now threat to add more serious pursuits to my husband and me if we still delay the payment for too long. The total due is now: 6 193 791,46 MGA (about 1510,68 USD)

About my family, my husband was working as a functionary in a service of public health. He is now in retirement and receives a pension monthly. My two teen daughters are now in University. They are working in student jobs in their free time and they earn a little money to buy some of their needs for school like clothes, books, food, etc. They help us, their parents, sometime, when we run out of money, to buy food and pay the transport fees and some other necessary fees. Now, I am working as a knitter, making warm clothes for winter when I get orders from clients to add some money in our monthly budget. We are a middle class family who are earning just enough money for the basic needs and bills, trying to fit everything in our small budget every month. My husband is the main provider of income.

What happened to us and caused these unpaid bills was that my husband retired on July 2019 and the Government gave him his monthly pension only after several months because of slow procedures of validations and long processes of doing a lot of paperwork.
The procedures took that long to get done also because of politic problems in our country. In brief, my husband didn’t receive any money for one whole year. Our family didn’t have the main income anymore.
So, my husband started to get his monthly pension only on August 2020. And at that moment, the pension was not even full, as the Government still took a percentage every month during 10 months to pay the validation fees. A very small amount was left on his monthly pension and we couldn’t even afford to pay the monthly rent of the previous house because we had to use the money to buy food and for our living, to prevent our family from completely starving.

At that time, I ran a little grocery store that provided us enough money to live. But as the pandemic and lockdown happened on 2020, I got less and lesser clients, also due to the poverty of people in our country and the increased financial difficulty. My store then, quickly went bankrupt as it supported and provided for every expenses and every bills in our home for a too long time, without any added income like it was before my husband retired.

As a middle class family, political problems have a real negative impact on our lives because of the increased price of living, low income, the insufficient pension, and instabilities in my husband’s previous job and in his retirement procedures.

In December 2021, me and my husband and my two daughters caught Covid-19. We struggled to buy food as we had to buy the treatments. Some of our family members sent us some money so that we could cope with that period. And thanks to God’s love we all recovered from the disease successfully even after our bodies were so weakened by the lack of food.

We negotiated with the owners of our last house to delay the payment. But a charge of 200 000 MGA (about 48,78 USD) is added to the due amount every time we reached the deadline but failed to pay the whole bill. And those charges also increased the amount of money to pay.

So, due to all these decreases in our incomes, we couldn’t pay the house rents and electricity from July 2020 to May 2021. And because of the lockdown at that time, on 2020, it was difficult to find a new house, so we moved to a cheaper house two months later than expected, adding the house rents of April 2021 and May 2021 to the bill we already had to pay (because we were told to move out of the previous house on March 2021).

The problem is that the owner of our previous house sued my husband for not completing the payment of the one year house rent and electricity, and had put our things as guaranty of payment. And if we don’t pay the whole bill on the due time, they would sell our things on auction. And we really don’t want that because we would have nothing left, it would ruin our lives completely as the value of our things are not even enough to pay the amount of money they put on the bill. So they will still ask us for money even after our things were all sold. We would be completely ruined.

We already thought of a monthly payment of the bill but we don’t have enough money per month to do that as my husband’s pension is small and our jobs don’t provide enough to pay an extra bill monthly in addition to the rent, electricity and all the bills we have to pay in our current house and for our living. And the people that sued us don’t accept “a too little money” as they said. They said they want a larger amount to use.

And now, they threat to add more pursuits to our case if we still don’t complete the payment of the whole bill.

We really struggle to increase our income, and the economic problems of our country only make it worse. Every member of the family are really weakened and drained financially, physically and mentally because of the huge amount of work we need to do everyday since 2019 to pay these bills. And we are so stressed and we can’t live correctly because of that. We can’t afford to eat healthy and sufficient food regularly, and my daughters even skip several days of their university courses so that we can save the bus fees to buy food at home.

Please help us. We were struggling since 2019 (when my husband retired and the main income of our home has been suddenly stopped) to solve this problem but still we could not complete the payment because of our restricted incomes as I said.

Everyone in our country struggle with financial difficulties too. Our friends and family did their best to help us pay some money and we have to return them their money too, later.

Please help us. We are reaching to you to help us complete it faster. We need help fast to end this problem definitely because it was a too long time since we had it and it really weights heavily on our lives.
We cannot live freely or even correctly because of those debts. It is really difficult for us to increase our income because of our situation.

And time passes, adding more and more pressure and stress on our lives, and the owners of our previous house tell us every time we ask them to give us more time that they want to have their money quickly otherwise they would add more pursuits on my husband and me. Please help us to finally get rid of this struggle that harmed my family since these three years. We are living in stress, pursuing this unfinished payment, working very hard but still not earning enough money to pay the bill completely.
